About.Me IPhone app update-bzzagent

I previously wrote about about.me for bzzagent (you can check it out here, http://thebirdsbizarre.blogspot.com/2012/03/aboutme-bzzagent.html).  I decided to write another blog post after discovering the about.me iphone app.   It is a pretty great, streamlined app with a 4 and 1/2 star rating in the app store.

So far, I have enjoyed exploring the app.  I like that it allows you to search for people by name or proximity.  I actually like searching on the app better than searching on the website.   I also enjoyed seeing my own profile, because it is super easy to access on the iphone app.  I found it easy to adjust my profile from the app.  One of my few gripes was the fact that I had a lot of trouble actually finding where I was supposed to edit my information.  Overall, it's a great app that makes it easy for people on the go to add and edit items on their about.me page.

Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream-Bzzagent

Just so you know, BB cream is known as a blemish base cream or blemish balm cream. It is said to have originated in Germany for laser surgery patients and has more recently been popularized by Asian actresses, especially in South Korea.  It has only begun to gain popularity recently in the United States.  (please see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BB_cream and http://www.squidoo.com/b-b-cream if you'd like more information on BB Creams, as these are where I got my information).

Here is my experience

Overall, I liked Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream.  Its coverage is amazing and it makes my skin feel amazing.  It is great if your skin needs a quick fix before you leave the house and it has a multitude of benefits.  It is a little heavier than I would like and I wish it came in more colors.

I tried applying Garnier BB Cream with both my hands and a makeup sponge.  I found it best to apply it with my hands, smooth it out with the makeup sponge.  It seemed to go on smoother that way and I liked the way it helped me even out the cream.  I read that some people use BB Cream with foundation but I used it instead of foundation.  I followed it with my normal makeup routine of powder, blush and mascara (sometimes eyeshadow, but not everyday).

Pros
  • Texture-creamy and smooth, Garnier bb cream is so easy to apply to the skin. It smoothes easily.
  • Size-they are very generous with the bottle size. Most foundations and tinted moisturizers run about an ounce a bottle, whereas Garnier's BB Cream is 2.5 ounces.
  •  SPF-I live in Florida and I ALWAYS wear SPF.  It is a must for the foundation and moisturizer I buy and use.
  • Multiple Applications-BB Cream addresses "discoloration, dullness, blotchiness and dryness" (see http://www.garnierusa.com/_en/_us/our_products/product.aspx?tpcode=our_products^prd_skincare^skin_renew^skin_renew_discover
  • It's great for anyone who likes to get up and go.  It can be applied so easily and quickly and you don't have to add anything else to make your skin look amazing.

Cons
  • Color-I'm not so sure about Light/Medium and Medium/Dark.  I found the Medium/Dark to be a little too dark for me and I'm not sure if the Light/Medium would be too light.  I can mix them for my perfect color, but that is not always convenient.
  • It tends to sit on the top layer of skin, which may not be bad for everyone, but I have always had a moisturizer that soaks into  the skin.

Here are my before and after shots.  You can definitely tell a difference.  My skin definitely looks smoother and more even.  It hid the the large pores that cover my nose and cheeks.

If there is anything I missed or got wrong, please feel free to comment, as I am still learning about Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream and BB Creams in general.

Also, I received the product for free for being a bzzagent to try and review.  I have coupons if you would like one.  If you like to be a bzzagent, go here http://www.bzzagent.com/pg/About-Us.

About.me-bzzagent

I got involved in the bzzagent campaign, about.me, several months ago. I kept going to the site and getting confused. I didn't quite get the site.  I kept wanting to compare it to Myspace or Facebook, when it is not like either one.  I made it out to be very complicated, when it is a very simple site and very easy to use.

I would describe about.me as an online business card, but minus the phone/fax numbers. Instead, the site provides links to all your websites. It is a convenient site to add to business cards, because instead of filling up a business card with multiple websites and email addresses, you can put one site on your business card that links to all of your information.

The only thing I didn't enjoy was setting up and editing the biography.  The edit box goes in and out.   It frustrated me, especially when I tried to read over my information and make sure everything was correct.  Other than that, I found the page to be super easy to set up.

If you would like to check out my about.me page, please do.  I have been playing around with it and deciding if I should add anything else.

Smarter Campaign-Bzzagent

So I have recently gotten involved in the Smarterer Campaign through http://www.bzzagent.com/index.jsp (they are always looking for new people to join, so sign up!).  Smarterer.com is a website that  allows users to take tests and show his/her proficiency in a certain subject.  To have a basic understanding of the setup, please check here http://smarterer.com/about/us.  For example, you are applying for a job that requires knowledge in Microsoft excel and Microsoft word.  You can then go to smarterer.com, take the tests for both subjects and then put your score on your resume.  The site can also be used for fun trivia among friends.  Suppose you want to see who is more knowledgableable about Disney movies, or 80's trivia, you can find both tests at smarterer.com.  The scoring is based on your score and your level (for a full explanation, please go here http://smarterer.com/about/how_it_works/scoring).  You can check out my scores here http://smarterer.com/jessbuanno.  As you will see, my knowledge of blogger and facebook can be much improved, but I am still learning.

Pros:
  • They have tests made for many subjects(word processing, graphic design, finance, etc) and if you cannot find what you are looking for then you create your own test.
  • Users can prove their knowledge on subjects and gain an edge on competition for jobs.
  • Smart people can prove they are more knowledgeable than their friends.
  • They are backed by Google (http://www.bizjournals.com/boston/blog/startups/2011/11/6-google-backed-startups-in-boston.html), which should make people feel better about the site's credibility.

Cons:
  • The users make the tests and the questions, so I am unsure if the questions are double checked to make sure they are correct.  I also say this because I noticed many repetitive questions.
  • I don't know how seriously your scores will be taken right now since it is still in beta testing and I don't think there is a standard for the tests.

This was my take on Smarterer.  I am still learning about the site and its capabilities.  I explained this to best of my knowledge.  I hope that whatever I was unable explain fully was answered by the links.  Also, I'd like to hear your feedback.  I will update this post as I gain a better understanding.

TheBirdsBizarre

This is my shop http://www.etsy.com/shop/TheBirdsBizarre

You should check it out.  Lately I have been making guitar pick jewelry, but I like to decoupage and I had a screen printing shop with my husband and a good friend, so I will also be posting shirts as well.
Hope you enjoy some of my items.  More to come.

To Begin

I have been wanting to start a blog for awhile. I have no idea if I will keep up with it. I just wanted to share my etsy/eBay products. I would like to write reviews for different products and websites as a bzzagent. I also figure I will end up sharing random projects, recipes, ideas and other stuff (original, I know). I guess I'll see how this goes and how my blog may evolve.
